Butterfly Pavilion

This was a really cool place to visit, but very irritating, the butterflies refused to sit still long enough to be photographed.  It is divided into 2 sections.  The first section is to teach children about invertebrates.  With the exception of their 'pet tarantula' (see below), this section was no fun, but they actually let their pet tarantula crawl around on kid's arms to teach them that they are not dangerous.

But the second section was a blast.  It is a 7,200 square feet tropical forest that is a home to over 1,200 species of butterflies.  The butterflies are shipped to them from all over the world while still in their cocoons.  From there, they are allowed to 'hatch' in a special window, and then released into the 'forest' at scheduled intervals (which are also fun to watch).

This is the hatching room.

I'm not even going to try to describe it from there.  You can spend hours wandering around the paths looking at all of the butterflies.  Here are some of the pictures that I was able to get.  I like the first one so much that I use it for my PC wallpaper at home.

Here is a link to the Butterfly Pavilion if you would like additional information.  I especially like the section that allows you to see some of the representative varieties that they have there.
